12 November 2021 Luncheon.
Due to the COVID lockdown, our luncheon scheduled for July was cancelled. Consequently, the gathering on 12 November 2021 occurred with much anticipation after a gap of nine months since the last one. The state borders of Victoria and Queensland remain restricted, resulting in many who might otherwise have attended being unable to join us. Consequently, it was pleasing that twenty-two of us gathered for lunch and to hear Hugh Poate talk about his just published book "Failures of Command". Compelling and enraging, this story of the disturbing facts surrounding the devastating loss of three soldiers, including his son Robert, continues to reverberate beyond their families to the highest levels of the Australian Defence Force and Government. Hugh's spech can be downloaded from the attched PDF file above.
PURCHASING THE BOOK
The book can be purchased on line and at bookshops for about $35 or take up Hugh’s offer to mail the book at the discounted author’s rate of $28 including postage (within Australia). Send an email to [email protected] indicating your intention to purchase and provide your mailing address for delivery. Hugh will email you his banking details and then mail the book to you on receipt of your payment. (Parcel post includes insurance cover for items not received or damaged https://auspost.com.au/receiving/delayed-lost-or-damaged-items/compensation )
Other news:
